The British Museum

So today it was raining...what a surprise!! I started my day off with a balanced meal of fresh bread from yesterday's farmers market and some coffee. Then I headed across the street to get in a workout before going to class. I decided to forgo the comfort of the treadmill today and try the eliptical in the corner. Boy was that a good choice...this was the craziest workout I have ever gotten from a gym machine. You could press all these extra setting like arm blaster, glute explosion, and x factor. So randomly during the workout it would switch it up by making me squat and pedal backwards, allowing me to only use my arms for the arm blaster, and much more...lets just say I am pretty pooped as I write this.

After that I went home to eat a quick snack before heading off to the British Museum for my survey of British Museums class. I arrived at the museum at 2PM exactly after getting lost for about 15 minutes...good thing I gave myself extra time! At the museum my teacher brought us around to some different areas and we got to see sculptures from the Parthanon, mummy's and sculptures of the Egyptian Pharoah Ramesses, murals of Nebamun the Egyptian hunter, and much more. It was pretty neat becasue this was really the first time I have actually paid attention in an art museum so I learned a lot. It is just mind blowing that all of these pieces of art are so old and they are still in such great shape. On Wednesday we will be visiting the National Gallery to look at some more famous pieces.

Today is also the day I started my new budget plan for London. Last week I tried to survive on 40 pounds for the entire week which came out to about 5 pounds a day...lets just say that was kind of an unrealistic goal. So this week I am giving myself 10 pounds a day and so far so good! It is actually kind of fun because it forces me to make decisions on what I really want to spend my money on...do I really want that coffee in the morning or would I rather save my money and spend it on clothes at the end of the week...hmmmm.

Tomorrow I think I am going to explore Regent's Park and maybe try to find a cute little cafe to grab lunch. It's supposed to be sunny and warm (mid 40's) so I am going to try to get as much vitamin D as possible :) Hopefully there will be some pretty things to take pictures of. Then at night (like every Tuesday night) we will probably hit up the Sports Cafe...classy I know. Well that is all for today!
